Dengue with somewhere around 400 million people infected yearly it is the leading cause of illness and death in the tropics and subtropics where about a 1/3 of the worlds population resides. Dengue is transmitted by 1 out of four virus found in these areas and transmitted to humans via mosquito. Although it rarely occurs in the continental united states it is a big problem in Puerto Rico and many destinations in Latin America and the Pacific Islands.
