Japanese Encephalitis is found mostly in Asia and the Western Pacific. For most people who travel the risk of getting it is low, but also depends on where travelers go and how long they stay. The virus is mostly found in pigs as the host and picked up by the mosquito and then transmitted to humans. Although a small number of people will develop encephalitis, those that do have a 1 in 4 chance of it being fatal.
